In Aboriginal cultures, knowledge has long been passed on through images drawn on the ground. Tyson Yunkaporta, of the Apalech Clan in far north Queensland, calls the practice sand talk.
In a 2019 book of the same name, he turns it into a way of thinking: seeing patterns and connections with a stick in hand and the ground as the board.
