Random Sand Fact
In a burial vault in Barbados, sand was spread across the floor to catch a culprit. According to the legend, it caught nothing.
In the early nineteenth century, stories began circulating that heavy coffins inside the Chase Vault had repeatedly moved despite the vault being sealed.
Fine sand was eventually smoothed across the floor to reveal any footprints. When the vault was opened again, the coffins were said to have moved once more.
The sand remained untouched.
It became one of Barbados’s best-known ghost stories. What really happened remains a mystery.
