Random Sand Fact
In Belarus, a sculptor created a small country of sand. To enter, you had to speak Belarusian.
He taught sculpture at a school and took his pupils to sand pits, where they shaped giant figures from the country’s history and legends. The project was called Legend of Sand.
The police cordoned off the work site with tape. The cordoned-off area became their country. The curious were welcome to come in, but only if they spoke Belarusian. The same rule applied to journalists.
After a few days, the sculptures fell apart. The motto was in Latin: Arena volat, mitus manet. Sand flies away, the myth remains.
