Random Sand Fact
Want the spiritual essence of numerous sacred places but lack time or ability to travel? There could be a solution—it involves sand!
In Japan, you can do sacred pilgrimages in hours instead of months by stepping on sand collected from temples or sacred Buddhist sites.
The Shikoku pilgrimage, with 88 temples along a 1,200 km route, likely provides an opportunity to reflect on one’s life at the same time as connecting with something beyond. But it’s far from accessible for all.
A condensed pilgrimage at a sand-stepping temple or a sand-stepping event is an alternative way. It’s believed that standing on sand collected from each can be as spiritually powerful as visiting all. Like a spiritual shortcut.
Sand – a carrier of blessings!
p.s. There are three pieces of jewelry in the GRAINS collection shaped after Japanese grains of sand. A heart, a star, and a flower-like grain. Each with its own story. Why don’t you check them out!
