Sand and art coexist. It’s a paint ingredient and it makes white pigment.

Sand grains blew and attached to wet Monet canvasses and Picasso and Dali added sand to get their aspired results way back. And the tradition of sand in art lives on.

The Guatemalan artist Karla Higueros adds sand in her paintings to enhance the energy, emotions, and spirituality embedded in her art. Sand, she says, ”is a live piece in which there is an interaction of my feelings, my thoughts, desires, and dreams so real like the sharpness and toughness of each grain of sand”.
