How do you cut hard stone for the pyramids with soft copper? With sand.
In ancient Egypt, craftsmen used copper blades together with quartz sand and water to work hard stone.
The copper acted as a carrier. As the blade moved, hard grains of sand were pressed against the stone, slowly grinding their way through it.
