Random Sand Fact

What can you do with about 6000 sand-filled plastic bottles?

How about a comfortable, durable, and eco-friendly home?

A refugee with a degree in energy efficiency, Tateh Lehbib Braica, came up with the idea to use easily available sand and plastic waste to build refugee houses in the Algerian desert. Homes built in just a week at a quarter of the cost of traditional mud-brick houses.

The first house, built for his grandma, captivated the world’s attention. With UNHCR’s support, the idea is transforming lives.
