Random Sand Fact

Do you ever wear vintage pearls? If so, there’s a chance you may have worn one from Bahrain.

The world has celebrated the superior quality of Bahrain’s pearls for millennia. From 4,000-year-old Assyrian texts to Cartier’s luxurious jewelry house describes them as breathtaking. Pearling was the nation’s main industry, with thousands of pearl divers scanning the coast until they discovered oil in the 1930s.

But brace yourself for a myth buster: sand doesn’t need to be the spark that triggers pearl growth. It’s not often that a grain of sand sparks the growth of these desirable beauties. It can happen, but it’s not common.

Sand takes a backseat here, even though the oysters that hold these treasures can be found in sandy seabeds.

P.S. Don’t worry. If you’re looking for jewelry created from a grain of sand, you’ll find several here!
