Can you sail on sand?
On the Belgian coast, people began experimenting with sails on wheeled beach carts in the 1890s. In De Panne the idea developed further, and the first sand-yachting race was held in 1909.
The yachts run across the firm, wet sand exposed at low tide. Wind in the sail. Sand beneath the wheels.
