Random Sand Fact

Have you ever built a sandcastle? If so, you’ll know that too much or too little water will ruin it.

The art of how to construct the perfect sandcastle is well-studied. And not just by kids all over the world, but at scientific institutions such as the IASBS University, in Iran.

Extensive research on the capillary bridges between sand grains has revealed the optimal formula: a ratio of one part water to eight parts sand.

If you compact the sand, widen the base, and wet the sand, there’s no theoretical height limit. Whether on sandy shores or in scientific institutions, the quest for the perfect sandcastle continues!
