In Morocco, people pay to walk or run through the sands of the Sahara in scorching heat. With their food and equipment on their backs.
The race is called the Marathon des Sables Legendary and is considered one of the world’s toughest footraces. Over six stages, participants cover around 250 kilometres through the desert with food, a sleeping bag and equipment in their backpacks.
Here, sand is the ground, the resistance, the landscape and something that gets everywhere.
