Sand, the unsung hero in Bangladesh’s battle against flames! At every petrol pump and gas station, buckets of sand take center stage. A low-tech yet highly effective way of fighting fires.

Metal buckets hanging on walls or handy mobile racks filled with sand labeled “Fire” are mandatory.

The sand can both soak up oil spills and fight fires by covering flames and cutting off oxygen supply.

if you’ve seen the buckets, you might wonder, what about that handle at the bottom? While it can help in throwing sand, it’s also a trick discouraging using the buckets for other purposes.
