Random Sand Fact
According to a Bulgarian legend, a pirate treasure turned into sand.
Pirates are said to have come ashore north of Varna and buried a great hoard of gold. Nature punished their greed and turned the gold into fine golden sand.
The beach is still there. In Bulgarian the place is called Zlatni pyasatsi, golden sands.
Every summer, visitors from all over Europe lie on what the legend says was once gold.
