Random Sand Fact

During Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead in Mexico, sand tapestries called tapetes de arena are a common sight.

Different colored sands arranged right on the streets form detailed images. Colorful religious scenes, whimsical skeletons dancing and drinking, or symbols of death fill the streets. Short-lived artworks soon swept away, symbolizing the fleeting nature of life.

Sand as the medium, emphasizes the delicate balance between existence and impermanence.

As the sands of time keep flowing, so does the cycle of life and death.
