Random Sand Fact
What can one of the world’s smallest countries contribute? A grain of sand.
San Marino’s foreign minister once spoke about what a country of only around 60 square kilometres could contribute to world affairs.
Small states, he argued, can sometimes say things larger powers cannot say as freely. San Marino should therefore add its granellino di sabbia, its little grain of sand, to international law and peace.
A small country. A small grain. Still part of what shapes the whole.
