The dance school in Senegal was founded by choreographer Germaine Acogny and has become a meeting place for dancers from across Africa and the world. In one of its open studios, they train directly on sand.

Here, every step meets a surface that gives way and shifts. The dance is shaped not only by the body, but by the ground it moves against.
