Random Sand Fact
Wonders in Senegal and sand go hand in hand.
What may be one, however, is not. While there’s pink sand in several places, it’s algae and not sand that colors the famous Lake Retba or “the Pink Lake,” drawing attention with its stunning hue and location just a sandbar away from the ocean.
For true sand-related wonders, instead, head to many of the nation’s wide sandy beaches or to the Saharan-looking Lompoul Desert, just a couple of hours’ walk in from the ocean.
