Random Sand Fact

A hot bath without water?

On Jeju Island in South Korea there is a tradition called mosaltteum – bathing in sun-heated black sand. A deep hollow is dug in the beach, the person lies down and is covered with warm sand up to the neck.

At Samyang Beach, specialist sand-bath practitioners still help bury visitors in the hot sand.
