Children playing in and with sand is a common sight around the world. Did you know that the right to play is a part of the UN children’s rights?
Two Macedonian sisters laid the groundwork for it. First-hand experience of a humanitarian crisis in Macedonia in 1903 sparked the sisters’ crusade for ending suffering and promoting children’s rights. Together they founded the Save the Children Foundation, today active in 120 countries, and wrote what became the basis for the UN’s Declaration of the Rights of the Child.
