Random Sand Fact
Think pyramids and you think of… Sudan!?
Sudan’s pyramids on sandbanks east of the Nile River far outnumber the pyramids found in Egypt.
About 250 pyramids stand in the sands as remains of the Nubian civilization that once ruled the area. Steeper, smaller, and burial chambers under rather than in the pyramids are what differentiate from the Egyptian ones.
Over history, the Nubians ruled, were ruled by, did business with, and were inspired by the Egyptian dynasties. The Nubian pyramids were built later than the great pyramids in Egypt.
