Random Sand Fact
In Thailand, people return sand they took without knowing it.
When people visit a temple, grains of sand stick to their shoes and are carried out through the gate. In Thai tradition, this is seen as accidentally taking something that belongs to the temple.
At Songkran, the Thai New Year, sand is gathered and carried back to the temple grounds. It is shaped into small stupas, decorated with flowers, incense and colourful flags.
