Random Sand Fact
The best-known line about sand in English sees a whole world in a single grain.
“To see a World in a Grain of Sand” is the first line of a poem by William Blake. Two lines later it continues: “Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand.”
The poem was never published in his lifetime. It first appeared in print thirty-six years after his death.
Today the line is everywhere, on bookmarks and in graduation speeches.
