Sand Origin

Random Sand Fact

Socotra Island, Yemen, is so remote that over a third of the plants here are unique, not found anywhere else in the world.

There’s the Dragon Blood tree looking like a giant umbrella, the Cucumber tree with a bulbous, bottle-like trunk, few leaves, and a white cactus.

Even sand dunes can look different here. At Archer Beach, white dunes don’t reach the shoreline but are stacked almost vertically against mountain cliffs behind. Strong monsoon winds blow the sand up there.
