Microscopic Wonders: Nature’s Hidden Jewelry in Sand

You wear jewelry to shine, to say something about who you are. It’s your story, worn on your body.

Ever looked at sand through a microscope? I did, and it blew my mind. What looks like plain grains on a beach or by the side of the road transform into nature’s masterpieces under magnification. Some are perfect spheres polished by wind. Others are dramatic volcanic fragments or delicate tiny stars. Each one shaped by its journey. Not one the other alike.

From Nature’s Art to Wearable Stories

That’s what sparked the GRAINS collection. I take these microscopic survivors and transform them into wearable art. Each piece is based on real sand grains discovered in sand from around our globe. Nature’s tiny masterpieces.

See that heart-shaped pendant? It’s modeled after a grain from a beach in Okinawa. Wara, the one resembling an ancient pillar? Found on a sun-struck Australian shore. That round piece with petal-like patterns radiating from its center? Based on a fossil grain that waited millions of years to be discovered.

The Hunt for One-in-a-Quintillion Grains

Finding these extraordinary grains isn’t just luck. It’s a hunt for nature’s hidden treasures:

  • From millions of collected grains, only a few hundred make the first cut
  • Each chosen grain goes through multiple rounds of evaluation
  • I use two glasses at once, microscopes, and macro photography
  • Final candidates get scanned at a research facility
  • Only the most extraordinary shapes become jewelry

These aren’t just pretty shapes. They’re symbols of resilience. Like that pillar grain that kept its form despite countless waves. Or the fossil grain that persisted through millions of years. Grains that survived intense heat and pressure or come from it. When you wear them, you’re carrying nature’s grit – and maybe a reminder of your own.

More Than Beauty

The GRAINS collection is about finding extraordinary beauty in ordinary places. Each piece tells a story of survival, transformation, and hidden wonder. You know you’ve got the same within you, right?
