Random Sand Fact

Black or golden sand? On St Kitts, you get almost exactly the same amount of both.

The island has around 13 kilometres of black volcanic sand coastline and almost exactly as much golden.

The dark sand comes from the island’s volcanic rocks. Elsewhere, material from land mixes with fragments from coral reefs and other marine organisms, creating lighter beaches.

Same small island. Very different sand.
