Random Sand Fact

Guyanese folklore is full of stories of malevolent spirits such as Loogaroos and Ole Higues. Away to combat them – sand!

During the day an Ole Higue appears as a quiet old lady. At night she takes off her skin and sucks the blood of unsuspecting victims. A Loogaroo eats people and can transform himself into any animal. neither very nice spirits to have close by. But don’t worry, you can outsmart both with sand.

For the Ole Higue leave a heap of sand at your door, she’ll be forced to count every grain again, and again, and again before she can pass. For the Loogaroo, leave 99 grains; it’ll look for the 100th forever.

Bet wearing a piece of the AKIN Collection works the same way, as a protective 😜
