Sand Origin
Random Sand Fact
Sand for use as a surface in sports and sports is carefully selected, regardless of whether it is sand for padel, beach volleyball, long jump or – horse racing!
You’ll find the most horse racetracks per capita in Ireland. Its sand is a topic of conversation. Angular grains provide firm surfaces, rounded ones soft.
If all grains are very angular, the surface will compact and can, with time, get too hard. And if the grains are perfectly round, it will not compact at all, which is great for cushioning but loose.
In the realm of horse racing, the optimal is a blend of angular and rounded grains. Such sand is usually transported to the galloping arenas. During an annual well-known race in Ireland, you’ll see the reversed.
Ever since 1868, Laytown Beach has held an annual professional horse race. As soon as the tide recedes, they transform the beach into a professional racecourse. People from all over the world gather in the temporary stands set up on the sandy shore.
