Random Sand Fact

What was the first commercial cargo driven overland across the border between North and South Korea after the Korean War? Sand.

In June 2004, 15 trucks carried around 300 tonnes of construction sand from North Korea’s Sachon River across the heavily guarded border into South Korea.

The shipment drew considerable attention as a concrete sign of a cautious opening between the two countries.
