Have you heard of sand as a love token? Neat sand pyramids can be spotted along beaches in Somalia, created with the hope of love at first sight.
The pyramids are the handiwork of male horn-eyed ghost crabs. They carefully make sand pyramids to attract mates when excavating burrows below.
The smaller the male is, the larger the pyramid it needs to build to get the attention of eligible females. The ghost crab has its name for a reason; their shade mimics the color of the sand.
